Wonderful Alamos-Part One

We left early Thursday morning for our trip to Alamos, stopping for a half hour to get our All Sonora pass for our car.  For some reason, you can't go just anywhere in the state of Sonora without it.  The drive through Obregon and Navajoa is interesting-a manufacturing city and an agricultural one.  But it is when you leave the main highway in Navajoa, that the scenery turns green and the road rises into  the Sierra Madre Mountains.  The hills were covered in beautiful pink flowering trees, the name for which I already have forgotten.  There are no words to describe the beauty of our wonderful hotel, Hacienda de los Santos.  The best part is that they have one dog friendly room, which we managed to book for the two nights we were here.

We spent as much time as possible hanging out at the hotel, exploring all the nooks and crannies, cooling off in the pools, playing cards in one of the many lounging areas and just chilling!  We ate at Teresita's the first night.  I think it is much better for lunch or breakfast, as it was difficult communicating with the one waitress working that night.  The food, however, was excellent and we did come back for lunch on our last day and enjoyed ourselves.

We wandered around in the markets and streets of Alamos on Friday after breakfast at the hotel, did a little sightseeing and some shopping and headed back for a game of Five Crowns and some spa treatments and dipping in and out of the pool.  That night we had drinks at the Colonial Hotel rooftop lounge.

This is the staircase up to the roof.

We had scoped out the place earlier in the day and thought it was worth
a visit at happy hour later.

We had reservations at Charisma for dinner where Joseph had prepared a lovely table for us in the beautiful courtyard.  The food was incredibly wonderful, the service excellent and the experience was one we'll never forget.
