The trip back to Colorado was fast and uneventful-thank goodness! We reached the border in good time, passed through easily and spent the first night at the dog-friendly Best Western at Green Valley-no stopping in Tucson. We were up early and off for Albuquerque for the second night. The cacti were blooming everywhere, so it was a beautiful trip. Saw our first snow on Raton Pass but none on the road.
Since I am the official "Keeper of the Things" for the Prouty family, I got into clearing out some special things that I thought my nieces and their children would enjoy keeping-The History of Spencer, Mass (where we are from since the 1600s), The Prouty Genealogy (which makes for such fun reading about our ancestors), when they came to this country, what they ended up doing for a living and where they lived, along with lots of old pictures. Here are some of my favorites:

Unfortunately, when I am back in Boulder with my friends, I forget to take pictures. There were walks, dinners in and out with friends, Ladies' get togethers, Mother's Day with the kiddos, and a trip with girlfriends to Cinda and Win's wonderful Lake House at Shadow Mountain in Grand Lake. Cindy drove us up through an incredible snowstorm on Berthoud Pass. We shared meals, ate out some, took walks, played cards, chatted it up and explored the town. AND we saw a couple of moose feeding and crossing the river.

The roads were dry on the way home and it was just gorgeous! |
Our son-in-law is deployed to Afghanistan AGAIN! We were so sad to hear that one of the young men from his base in Anchorage, Alaska was killed in the last weeks of his tour. We went to the funeral (he was from Loveland, CO) in Longmont. Such a huge loss for so many! When will this war ever end?

I'm walking regularly now. This is just one of the beautiful sights along
the way. |
Next on the agenda: a trip to NYC to see Janet and Tony.
